Comet Lovejoy, M41, M42

Roger Samworth

Wanted to try to image Lovejoy tonight but with the wind, there was no chance of getting a nice steady image in the garden.

So, reverted to indoors in the bedroom with my 4" refractor and PD camera through the double glazing.

Easily found the comet with binoculars, then imaged it with the PD + focal reducer and an un-driven mount. No sign of a tail, possibly due to lack of contrast and short exposure through the window glass.

While in the same region of sky, I also imaged M41 & M42 with the same simple arrangement.

Don't forget, this is a few images, indoors, stacked in Registax on an un-driven and un-guided mount!
