Rosliston Astronomy Group

Observing Log

Archive up to October 2016

Click on the links below to hear what our members have been seeing in the night sky around Burton, Lichfield and Tamworth. Most of these observations are from local skies - often less than ideally located with significant light pollution - and should give you an idea of what you can see from your observing location in the local area.

Writing observing notes is a good way to hone your observing skills and to teach you to look carefully at the objects you see in the night sky. Comparing your notes to book and online descriptions further improves your knowledge and enjoyment of the hobby and encourages you to share your interest with others.

Remember that sky quality varies from night to night and observing skills develop with experience so you might not see everything these folks have seen your first time out!

The group is also involved in amateur radio astronomy activities.
